Cendres + Métaux and Expanite have signed a partnership agreement to promote the innovative technology for hardening stainless steel and titanium developed by Expanite.
This agreement represents a new stage in the Biel/Bienne-based company’s “one-stop-shop” strategy of supplying cutting-edge technologies. It also enables Expanite to increase its reach within the watch industry.
Founded in 2010 and based near Copenhagen, Denmark, Expanite is a specialist in stainless steel surface hardening treatments. The firm has developed a unique parented process that increases the surface hardness of stainless steely by up to 10 times, while maintaining or even improving corrosion resistance.
The process is suitable for austenitic, ferritic, martensitic and duplex stainless steels – and even grade 5 titanium. Parts can be treated within a few days, an unprecedented achievement in the industry. Expanite technology can considerably increase the intrinsic value of products across many industries. It is already used in the watch industry for movement and case components.
